Custom patch MOQ: what 1,000 pieces actually gets you
“What is your MOQ?” is the first question most buyers ask. Here is the honest answer, what it covers, and what happens between your artwork and the bulk run.
Our MOQ: 1,000 pcs per design
MOQ is 1,000 pieces per design for PVC patches, silicone patches and labels, woven labels, heat transfer labels and high-frequency patches. A “design” means one artwork at one size — change the shape, the size or the colour count and it becomes a separate design.
- Same artwork, same size, same colours = one design
- Different size or outline = a separate design
- Extra colourways are quoted separately
Why there is a minimum at all
Every design needs its own tooling — an engraved mould for PVC and high frequency, or a dedicated set-up for silicone and weaving. The fine detail of your artwork is cut into that tooling, which is why the minimum applies per design rather than per order.
What happens between artwork and bulk
The process is designed to remove surprises before you commit quantities:
- Send your artwork and the specification (size, colours, backing, fabric)
- We review the artwork and confirm the practical limits for that size
- A physical sample is produced — 5–7 working days
- You approve the sample
- Bulk production — 14–16 working days
- Inspection, packing and shipping
What to send with your enquiry
The faster you can share these five points, the faster you get a firm quote:
- Artwork — vector (AI/PDF) preferred, or a high-resolution PNG
- Finished size and shape
- Number of colours (and Pantone references if you have them)
- The fabric it will be applied to, and how (sewn, heat pressed, adhesive)
- Quantity and required delivery date
Questions worth asking before you commit
Ask about the backing (sew-on, iron-on, self-adhesive or hook-and-loop), how the item behaves on your fabric, and what pressing conditions are recommended. We confirm pressing and application conditions per fabric rather than giving one number for everything.
How to keep the cost per piece sensible
Most of the cost of a moulded item sits in the tooling and the set-up, not in the material. That is why a few decisions at the artwork stage matter more than squeezing the unit price later:
- Use the colour count the artwork actually needs — each colour layer adds a step
- Keep one design for one purpose rather than several near-identical variants
- A repeat order of the same design and size re-uses the existing tooling — confirm the details with us
- Decide the backing early: sew-on, iron-on, self-adhesive and hook-and-loop are different constructions
- Be clear about packing and labelling requirements — they are part of the quotation
Four things buyers often get wrong
These come up in almost every enquiry:
- “MOQ is per order” — it is per design, at one size and colour count
- “Sampling is optional” — the sample is what you approve; bulk production follows that approval
- “A different colourway is free” — colourways are quoted separately
- “We can decide the backing later” — the backing affects the construction, so it changes the price
